Scar Correction

Scars can occur after injury or surgery and can not only be unsightly, but also cause pain, itching and even restriction of range of motion. Burn wounds tend to create large painful scars that very often necessitate further surgery to restore appearance and function.

Treatment
The methods available to treat scars are as diverse as their causes. From conservative treatments (without surgery), to excision and skin transplantation, there are many techniques available to a good plastic surgeon.

Lipo Filling

Concern
Many people are not satisfied with the silhouette of their body and would like to augment some areas while reducing others. For these people, a modern plastic surgery technique is lipo filling. With lipo filling, body areas that need more volume are augmented by injecting the patient’s own body fat that has been harvested from areas with excess fat. Typical sites for harvesting fat cells are the upper inner thigh or the lower abdomen.

Treatment
Under general anesthesia, the patient’s fat cells are injected into the affected areas, the body will reabsorb part of the transplanted cells achieving a satisfying outcome after healing. Lipo-fillings may have to be repeated two or three times to achieve the desired effect.

Hospital Admission: 1 day
Recuperation Time: 2-3 weeks
Post Surgery: None
Price Range: Starting at $2000

Liposuction

Concern
Many people have the desire to improve the shape and silhouette of their body. Lipo suction makes this desire a real possibility. Areas of concern tend to be the upper thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen depending on your gender.
The removal of fat by means of suction is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise. As a matter of fact, it is not suggested for people who are severely overweight because of the risks involved. It is however an excellent technique to correct unevenly distributed fat tissue for a long-lasting result.

Treatment
Using a local anesthesia and a solution, fat will be sucked out of the region that has been marked before the surgery.

Hospital Admission: Outpatient procedure – 1 day
Recuperation Time: 3-6 weeks
Post Surgery: Compression garments must be worn for 3 – 6 weeks. During the first two days after surgery, some watery fluid might bleed out of the small incision
Price Range: Starting at $2500

Hernia

Concern
A hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place. For example, the intestines may break through a weakened area in the abdominal wall. Hernias are most common in the abdomen, but they can also appear in the upper thigh, belly button, and groin areas.

Treatment
The content of the hernia will be re-positioned into the abdominal cavity and the weakened area stabilized with a mesh. This treatment can be done in combination with other surgeries like for example a Tummy Tuck.

Hospital Admission: Daycare
Recuperation Time: Depends on the hernia
Post Surgery: Compression garments must be worn for 3-6 weeks
Price Range: Starting at $2500
